Argentina: Blueberry harvest started and first exports with it.

Harvest for Argentinian blueberries have started as from week 36, and exports of around 125 tonnes to all destinations by air have been done, the Argentinean Blueberry Committee (ABC) representative explained. The main destination, being US was followed by continental Europe and Canada.
The ABC reported that most of the fruit came from northwestern Argentina (NOA), from the provinces of Tucuman and Salta. where harvest already started with early varieties such as Snowchaser and to a lesser extent, Emerald, Springhigh and Primadonna.
According to the agency detailing, by week 37 these varieties could increase the harvest, while for middle late varieties such as Star, Jewel, Misty Blue Crisp- harvest will start from week 38. The peak in these fields is estimated for 42-43 weeks.
Meanwhile, in the fields located in colder areas of the NOA, it is expected that the harvest begins from September 20, reaching the peak in the 43-44 weeks.
The estimate for this region export volume is 8,000 tons and 2,000 tons for industry.
To northeastern Argentina (Entre Rios and Corrientes-Concordia) the estimated volume is 8,500 / 9,000 tons and 2,000 tons exported to industry.
In the case of the Buenos Aires region, the estimated volume is between 1,800 and 2,000 tons for export, and 500 to industry.
